At the Pinehurst Resort
July 7th - 9th, 2025

Having the opportunity to win a Putterboy Trophy is rare, join the 39th Annual KNCB Summer Classic Golf Tournament for your chance to win one!
Join us this year for the landmark 39th Annual Keep North Carolina Beautiful Summer Classic & Golf Tournament at the Pinehurst Resort. This annual event is a “must attend” for golfers of every skill level who want to join with citizens and the business community committed to educating our youth about the environment and supporting statewide efforts to cleanup and beautify North Carolina from the coast to the mountains.
As one of KNCB's annual FUNdraisers, the tournament is packed with fun activities and includes a Casino Night event in between the rounds of golf on Tuesday & Wednesday with heavy hors d'oeuvres and beverages, your shot at making "The Payne Stewart Putt" on the famed #18th hole of Course #2, a chance to win $25,000 with a hole in one on both days, the KNCB famed Putter Boy Awards Luncheon upon the tournament's conclusion,
and much more...
For the 38th year, golfers will have the opportunity to play two of Pinehurst’s legendary courses, beginning Tuesday with golfers enjoying Pinehurst No. 1, the original classic built in 1897 and later perfected by Donald Ross through adding his traditional bunker placements in the fairways and around the greens stemming from his Scottish roots.
Then on Wednesday golfers will take on Pinehurst No. 5, a course designed in 1961 by Ellis Maples, a legend of golf course design in the Carolinas and Donald Ross's protege. Pinehurst #5 is recognized as one of his best, among over 60 golf courses developed in Maples' career.
Choose your preferred format of Play!
In keeping with Keep North Carolina Beautiful's tournament tradition, team captains will have the option of registering their team in one of two divisions, the Clean Division and the Green Division.
The Clean Division includes a traditional best ball format on both days of play, in which, golfers will play their own ball from tee to green and record their scores at the end of each hole. This format will be handicapped and requires a certified handicap for each player, as the best two "net" scores will be recorded as the team's hole score for each hole to be added up at the end of the round to arrive at the final 18-hole aggregate score. Each player's gross hole score should be recorded and the Pinehurst golf professional will complete the team scoring from there. Both days scores will be added together and Putter Boy trophies will be awarded to all four players in the top two teams of the Clean Division!
The Green Division includes two styles of play, with a scramble format on the first day of play (Course #1) in which all golfers tee off and the team selects which shot they'd like to play their next shots from. The format of selecting which ball/shot is the best to play from continues until the hole is complete. This style of play often results in a par or better score. On the second day of play (Course #5) a handicapped, best ball format will be used to complete the scoring on each hole by combining a low gross score and a low net score together. All players will record their own score each hole with the Pinehurst golf professional recording the low scores for each hole and determining the final 18-hole score for each team. This division will be split into two separate flights after the first round of golf to compete for Putter Boy trophies through the second day of golf. The final scores from both days of golf will be added together to determine 1st and 2nd place for each flight.
This cherished tournament promises great fun, summer scenery, and friendly competition—all while supporting a meaningful cause. Proceeds benefit environmental education through K–12 outdoor classroom grants and fund important community beautification projects across North Carolina in partnership with our 34 statewide Keep America Beautiful affiliates.
Registration begins on Monday, July 7th, for those who would like to spend the evening in Pinehurst and enjoy breakfast at the Carolina Inn prior to their first round of golf on Tuesday. Registration will continue on the morning of the 8th at 7AM, prior to teeing off at 8:30AM.
KNCB has secured a block of rooms at both The Carolina Hotel and The Manor at reduced rates, and including breakfast, for those interested in staying in Pinehurst for the tournament.
