Project: Native Pollination Garden
Woodson Branch Nature School is a private, non-profit school that serves over 100 K-8 students in Madison County. The majority of our students receive scholarships or state assistance for tuition. Our educational model is experiential, hands-on learning. In addition to the standard academic subjects, our students take classes in Regenerative Agriculture, Outdoor Education, Art, and STEAM.

Our request for WOO Grant funding is to involve the students in an outdoor project that includes planting a variety of native meadow plant plugs throughout a bank that sits above the (paved dirt) entrance road that leads to our school. The bank is about 350 long and is 10-12 feet high along the road.
The purpose of the project is threefold: 1) To stabilize the bank and prevent erosion, 2) To attract and support native pollinator insects and birds, and 3) To support our Science, Outdoor Education, and STEAM curriculums through hands-on learning about native plants and organisms they host.
