On Saturday, September 20th, Keep North Carolina Beautiful partnered with Keep Fayetteville Beautiful and GFL Environmental for a major community cleanup at Windsor and Seabrook Parks in Fayetteville, NC.

 

More than 34 GFL employees from Raleigh, Fayetteville, and the Sampson County Landfill contributed over 100+ volunteer hours to refresh public spaces and remove litter from the parks and surrounding neighborhood streets. A highlight of the day was the rejuvenation of Windsor Park’s playground, where volunteers spread more than 60 yards of mulch to create a safer and more welcoming space for local families.

 

In addition to beautification, volunteers focused heavily on litter removal—an effort critical not only for maintaining the look of public spaces but also for protecting environmental health. Trash left behind in parks and streets often travels into nearby waterways such as Cross Creek and Glenville Lake, both vital parts of Fayetteville’s watershed that sustain local wildlife and biodiversity.

Healthy ecosystems depend on clean, thriving habitats. By working together to remove litter and revitalize community spaces, volunteers helped safeguard the natural resources that support both people and wildlife, ensuring a cleaner, more sustainable future for Fayetteville.
