Purpose:  The purpose of this grant-funded project is to beautify the campus at Lakewood High School by adding an assortment of Japanese maples to the landscape. In addition to our beautification efforts, this project will support learning opportunities related to landscape design, plant identification, and plant care for students enrolled in our horticulture program.

Narrative/Scope of Work:  Preparation, purchasing, and installation of maples will be conducted by students enrolled in the school's horticulture program. In addition to campus beautification, this project will support student learning by providing an expanded area for plant identification lessons. We are hopeful that having such a diverse number of Japanese maples on-site will attract other schools to utilize our area for training. Finally, we want to provide a beautiful space on-campus that our teachers, students, and community members can enjoy for years to come.
