The Mac Williams Middle School Agriculture Program is seeking funds to update the space outside the classroom and greenhouse into an amazing vegetable garden and pollinator haven. This project will help give the space a purpose and create an environment that is welcome for all students to learn about how our food grows and why pollination is so important!

The main items we will need to complete this project would be stepping stones to create walkways, raised beds to outline our designated growing locations, rocks to paint and label our plants, and an outside planting table to provide a space to work and harvest.

The year-round pollinator & vegetable learning garden will transform our outdoor space into a functional, student-designed outdoor classroom that supports environmental sustainability, campus beautification, and hands-on agricultural education. This project will combine pollinator habitats with raised beds and row crops to allow students to grow vegetables and flowers throughout the year.

The middle school agriculture class students and FFA chapter will take an active role in all phases of the project, including planning, budgeting, design, installation, planting, and maintenance. The garden will support pollinators, promote biodiversity, and provide fresh produce while reinforcing environmental stewardship and sustainable agricultural practices.

Project Timeline:

February 2026: Student research, design, and budgeting
March 2026: Site preparation and raised bed installation
April 2026: Spring planting of vegetables and pollinator plants
May 2026: Project completion and documentation
Ongoing: Seasonal planting, maintenance, and observation throughout the year​​​
