Keep North Carolina Beautiful-Executive Director
 

Overview

 

Keep North Carolina Beautiful (KNCB) is looking to hire an Executive Director in the Triangle (Raleigh-Durham) area. The Executive Director will lead a statewide organization, working with corporate partners and non-profit organizations to support environmental awareness, education, and beautification efforts that improve the quality of life in North Carolina.

Job Title: Executive Director 

Location: Greater Raleigh-Durham area 

Terms: Full-Time, Independent Contractor 

Salary/Rate: Commensurate with Experience

Responsibilities 

  • Plan, identify sponsors, and oversee event operations for the Keep North Carolina Beautiful Golf Classic, the organization’s flagship fundraising event. 

  • Lead the organization’s statewide Window of Opportunity (WOO) grant program, including management of the application process and distribution of grant funds to awardees. 

  • Facilitate KNCB’s Annual Azalea Celebration that provides statewide non-profit organizations with free Azaleas to plant and beautify their local communities. 

  • Develop and implement a business plan of market growth through strategic corporate partnerships, key fundraising campaigns, and individual donor outreach. 

  • Support the North Carolina “affiliate network” of Keep America Beautiful by providing affiliate leaders with guidance on local environmental initiatives and grant opportunities. 

  • The Executive Director will supervise a part-time program manager role with both positions reporting to the KNCB Board of Directors. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred. 

  • Five years of experience in non-profit fundraising, executive volunteer management, event planning, or corporate sales. 

  • Experience collaborating with community leaders, with a particular focus on developing fundraising partnerships preferred. 

  • Ability to build strong partnerships with corporate leaders and senior-level volunteers. 

  • Knowledge and skills to identify, recruit and maintain relationships with top-level volunteers and partners. 

  • Track record of exceeding sales and/or fundraising goals and ensuring staff meet/exceed revenue targets. 

  • Willingness to work outside standard hours as needed to support the organization’s fundraisers and programs (annual golf tournament, WOO grants, and Azalea Celebration). 

  • Ability to travel within the state as needed, as well as occasional out-of-state travel for meetings or training. 

 

Compensation/Requirements 

  • The role is a full-time, independent contractor position with a hybrid working model, allowing both in-office and remote work options as needed. 

  • The salary range will be subject to and commensurate with an applicant’s experience in the industry. 

  • Professional and developmental training is available to assist with onboarding and management of the organization’s work portfolio.
