As part of an exploratory (student choice elective) class at Salisbury Academy, three students collaborated on a project to enhance the existing beauty of our outdoor campus – Bird Watching Area Beautification.

The goal was to give back and create something for all students to enjoy. The students came up with the scope of work, researched, and put together a budget. One of the students worked with his grandfather to build eight bird houses with the goal of each grade class being able to have it's own birdhouse to decorate and study when they're outside in the garden area!

The Keep NC Beautiful grant is the first grant awarded to a middle school, student-led environmental initiative at Salisbury Academy.
